Why your Meta Ads aren't working...
Hey Founder,
Did you have a good break? I took two blissful weeks off in the sun and have come back with lots of clarity and feeling pretty damn excited about 2025.
If you have got back and aren’t seeing the growth you need in your business, I am going to share the 5 likely culprits.
Spoiler alert - your problem isn’t the ad algorithm.
But first here is a quick snap from my holiday!
If your Meta ads aren’t driving growth, it’s not the algorithm.
It’s your business.
Scaling a brand with Meta ads is never actually about hacking the ad algorithm. If your results aren’t where they should be, it’s time for a reality check.
Here are the 5 likely culprits holding you back:
1️⃣ Your Product Positioning Isn’t Resonating If your audience doesn’t instantly “get” your product—what it is, why it matters, and why they need it—your ads will fall flat. Great positioning is the foundation of every successful campaign.
2️⃣ Your Creative Is Uninspiring Boring or Not Using Psychology Forgettable ads never make it past your audience’s 2-second attention span. Your creative should grab attention, spark curiosity, and employ proven psychology to make them want to take action.
3️⃣ Your Account Structure Is Inefficient Even the best ads won’t perform if your account isn’t set up for success. Poor data flow, misaligned audience targeting, and inefficient spend allocation are common pitfalls that drain your ad budget.
4️⃣ Your Unit Economics Don’t Work Let’s be blunt: you can’t scale unprofitable products. If your margins are razor-thin or your goal CAC (cost of acquisition) is too low to compete, then you will either be stuck on low spend forever or you will scale your losses.
5️⃣ Your Product Isn’t Good Enough The harshest truth of all: if your product doesn’t deliver on its promises, or people just aren’t excited enough in the first place, then no ad campaign can save it.
Which one is your bottleneck?
The goal of every eComm brand owner is to cycle through 1-4 as QUICKLY as possible to rule out the possibility that your product is the problem.
If the product is your problem, the best move is to pivot fast and invest in improving your product or developing a better one.
The worst thing you can do is stay spinning your wheels burning more and more cash trying to figure out if the problem is your ads or your positioning - when actually it is the product that is the issue.
And that is actually pretty simple to figure out - the data will tell you.
If you are stuck and you are not sure where the problem lies - get an outside perspective.
I can usually spot the main growth bottleneck in less than 15 minutes with a quick look at your ad account - because I have audited hundreds of accounts and seen inside the very best and the very worst brands.
