Why I Sold My 7-Figure Agency (And What I’m Doing Now)

Two years ago, from the outside looking in, everything seemed perfect.

  • CEO and Founder of a 7-figure agency

  • A team of 20 people

  • Fancy logos and a shiny website

But behind the scenes? I was lonely, stressed, and unfulfilled.

I had moved to a small town and was working remotely. My team handled the day-to-day client relationships, and I was left to “be the CEO.”
On paper, it all looked great. In reality, I wasn’t doing the work I loved anymore.

Where It Went Wrong

Early in my agency days, we worked with early-stage eCommerce brands—the scrappy, ambitious ones just starting to scale. Brands that needed far more than “ad management”:

  • Strategic positioning to stand out in crowded markets

  • Landing page optimization to actually convert visitors

  • Guidance on sourcing and shooting UGC content

They needed me.

But with 30+ clients, I couldn’t give them that level of support anymore. I couldn’t clone myself with 10+ years of experience.

So, we pivoted to bigger, more established brands.

We built systems. A playbook. A team to deliver the work.

And I became “a CEO.”

The Problem?

I wasn’t in the trenches anymore. I wasn’t working with the scrappy brands I loved. I wasn’t solving the big, hairy, creative problems that light me up.

And that’s when I knew: something had to change.

So, I sold the agency.
